Fields said Colorado is tops after USC at the moment.
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco receiver Shay Fields was a long time Boise State commit. However once USC made an offer the tide definitely turned directions.
Within weeks of his offer in October, Fields had decided to stay closer to home and play for the Trojans. Since then USC has experienced a coaching change which might leave him back on the board.
"I haven't talked to anyone at USC in a while," Fields said. "Right now I need to keep my options open and make sure I have a plan. I"m still committed to USC but I am looking around."
His visit plans include a trip to Colorado on Jan. 24 followed by Cal then TCU. Boise State is also in the mix at this time, but he has no plans to visit again.
"Boise State is recruiting me the hardest of all the schools," he said. "They are good guys and hitting me up all of the time with messages and stuff. Colorado is right behind them with interest. I'd actually have to say Colorado is my top choice after USC right now, but it's pretty tight."
The 5-foot-11, 160-pound speedster said he doesn't plan to wait until signing day for a new decision. He expects to wrap things up quickly following his final visit to TCU.
Fields noted depth chart as one of his primary factors in his decision.
